Ever since the earliest times, people have always had something with them, an object that supposedly brings blessings to them.
These have been called charms, and they come in different forms and sizes, and different purposes as well. Charms have also been used for good fortune in finding true love or maintaining love in a relationship. It is not until recently that these charms have taken the form of hearts. And as the celebration of love, most usually during the month of February are thrived, these heart charms have also thrived and increased not only in number, but also in its diversity.
Hearts have always represented commitment, friendship, fidelity, devotion, but most usually, they represent love. People have always had problems expressing their love to someone, so they found the need of symbolizing the emotion. With these symbols being put into charms, people then found a way to express their love to a person by presenting it through a tangible object. Nowadays, heart charms are still very in demand, as love will always be in demand.
These charms are ideal gifts for your special someone during any occasion. May it be a birthday, a wedding, an anniversary, or on Valentines Day, heart charms are great gifts for your loved ones. Women usually appreciate these kinds of gifts, as women are more preferable on wearing such kind of jewelry, although nowadays, some men and children and teens also tend to have a liking to these charms.

Charms have been called as such because their purpose was to supposedly charm oneself into bringing good fortune and happiness into ones life. This superstitious beginning then became the habitual and common thinking of the people, as the popularity of using charms spread. As people became bolder in their endeavor in expressing love, they thought of ways to speak of them inconspicuously. With the invention of the symbolism of love as heart, charms soon followed this shape. Then, it was followed by a massive and worldwide devotion.
Giving heart charms to people would ensure them of your devotion, and receiving one also ensures you of their devotion, as well.
It has always been a pleasure receiving heart charms, especially from a special someone in your life. Feelings would usually range from elation and excitement to shyness and embarrassment, and emotions would differ on the basis of gender and age. Heat charms would also vary in size, material used, and prize. People would usually associate the worth of a charm with the amount of the material used in making such a charm.
But, despite these all, heart charms, in all of the decades and centuries that passed, they have never lost their charm. As long as there is love felt in the hearts on people, these charms will always weave their magic on us and make us believe in fairytales again.

They say it is better to show someone you love them than to just say it. I agree with this a hundred percent. Although it is important for a person to know you love him or her because you say it, its more important for one to feel it because you show it. There are a lot ways to show just what is inside the heart that beats within. For a man to a woman, even the little things will show he cares, he can comfort her in times of need, he can make sure to remember all the important dates of her and their lives, he can give her flowers just because. Or, he can give her his heart in the most literal and concrete way possible: through a ring shaped like a heart.
In my perspective, a ring is a type of jewelry that has the most symbolic meanings attached to it. In a wedding, for instance, it is the ring that will symbolize two people to be man and wife. The ring is small, and is the most unobtrusive piece of jewelry yet it can be loaded with so much meaning. It can be a symbol of love, of friendship or of commitment. It is a piece of jewelry that can tell so much by simply being worn on the finger, depending in the type of the ring. By the nature of the jewelry, it can say volumes; but it does more so when accompanied by a shape that can speak volumes to the heart.
Heart shaped rings may not be a common ring shape, but they are certainly being catered to by a lot of people. The rings that we know of today are usually in the oblong, round or square shape, and this is one of the reasons why the heart-shaped ring is a lot more special. It veers from the ordinary, and aside from the fact that the shape alone can probably say what you want to say, the one you give it to can boast of its uniqueness.
For perhaps every special occasion, there is a ring appropriate for it. People probably just do not practice the ring-giving every time. There are a variety of types of rings for every special event or endeavor possible. Will the heart-shaped ring suffice for the most popular of these ring-giving moments? Maybe we should explore this.
The engagement ring.
The guy gets down on one knee. The girl knows what words are coming out of his mouth next, and she tries to hold back the tears. The guy opens this little red box, and in it houses one tiny piece of jewelry that asks her what she knows will be asked of her even if the guy had not mouthed the words yet. Sound familiar? Yes, I am talking about that time when the guys ask to marry the girl and she says yes. After that one-word answer starts the engagement, and with the engagement comes the ring. For this very momentous occasion in ones life, the heart shaped ring can certainly do the trick. It says: I am putting out my heart for everyone to see; will you take it?
The promise ring.
The world is full of promises; and big or small, each one of these promises is important. Whether it is a promise of lasting friendship or of commitment, it has been common practice to seal it with a ring called the promise ring. For friendship or commitment, the heart- shaped friendship ring can be a good symbolism.
Rings are symbolic; but why should you stop there? Through heart-shaped rings, let your ring be the literal way of saying my heart is with you.
